Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (2024)

Forza Horizon 4 has continued to be a leader in the racing genre, straddling a nice line between arcade and simulation. With more than 500 different cars and the lush, sheep-filled hills of the rainy UK to use them in, it is a car lover's dream. Zipping around in the game's vast array of sleek, fun vehicles is one of the most appealing aspects of this open-world driving epic.

But cars are changing — many are going electric to help combat pollution. So, how does Forza Horizon 4 do in that department? Well, there are over a dozen and electric cars that currently round out the lineup in the game. There aren't any Teslas, nor a Toyota Prius, at least not yet. Nope, for the most part, these are super-fast and super-flashy hypercars that can hang with the best of them.

Updated July 29th, 2021 by Stephen LaGioia: Since the release of this piece, a couple more electric and hybrid cars have released by way of DLC content, along with a couple more that have come to light. And while Playground Games has stated they will halt additional content to focus efforts on the epic Mexico-based Forza Horizon 5, it seemed appropriate to refresh this list, given the slew of electric and hybrid cars that now make up its lineup.

12 2018 BMW i8 (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (1)

Touted for its stout performance and hybrid-fueled efficiency, the German supercar excels in both efficiency and performance. It gets around swiftly and smoothly, partly thanks to its light weight and innovative, compact build, which houses an electric front-drive system working in tandem with a rear turbocharged engine.

The all-wheel-drive system, coupled with some solid launch and acceleration, allow it to power through rugged terrain and zip across the UK streets at up to a swift 194 mph.

11 2018 BMW i8 Roadster (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (2)

As one might expect, this open-top variant of the BMW i8 is comparable to its counterpart in terms of its design and statistics. However, it sports a somewhat heavier build and is laced with rear-wheel drive.

Released as part of the Car Pass in 2018, this enticing ride allows players to enjoy the gorgeous scenery of Great Britain while zipping about rather quickly.

10 2019 McLaren Speedtail (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (3)

Boasting a 4.0L Twin-Turbocharged Hybrid V8 and a potent brake horsepower (bhp) of 1036, the aptly-named Speedtail is a total beast, and one of the most tantalizing cars to come out of the Update 20 patch. McLaren's swiftest car ever built comes with a sleek design with slipstream in mind, allowing it to smoothly and quickly glide about with little wind resistance.

The large panels of its carbonfiber body and covered front wheels further enhance the aerodynamic prowess of this awesome ride. Its statistics across the board are excellent, but its launch and speed are truly off the charts. The Speedtail can propel from 0 to 186 mph in just 12.8 seconds, and get hit a sky-high top speed of 250 mph.

9 2019 RAESR Tachyon Speed (Electric)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (4)

An enticing product of Playground Games' Update 33, this US concept car has an electrifying 1251 bhp and can easily max out at 240 mph. It can truly explode out of the gate with its jet fighter-style canopy and exceptional speed as well as launch.

This Hard-to-Find vehicle can't be purchased from the Autoshow, though it's certainly worth seeking out in the Forzathon Shop or as a Festival Playlist reward.

8 2018 Jaguar I-Pace (Electric)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (5)

The most understated of the electric offerings, the Jaguar I-Pace is an all-electric SUV. As such, it is disconcertingly quiet as it glides across the tarmac, even with its 394 bhp and big, hulking frame. While it may not be the coolest of the bunch, it is the most adept off-road, being perfect for the often rough conditions of the winter season. With its all-wheel-drive system, the player can fly over those muddy hills with ease.

It's great fun to go flying over fields of wheat and barely hear a peep out of that electric engine, but there's definitely more fun to be had elsewhere.

7 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (6)

The amusingly translated "Ferrari TheFerrari" is a famously monstrous car, and not exactly environmentally friendly. It has a 6.3L Hybrid V12 that puts out 949bhp, as well as an electric drivetrain to help the player shoot off the line. All that power makes it one of the fastest and most powerful cars in the game. However, in comparison to its other electric and hybrid counterparts, it is a bit boring. While it is rear-wheel-drive and growls loudly throughout any race, it can all be a bit underwhelming.

Don't worry though - there is a faster, lighter, and much cooler Ferrari that was based on the LaFerrari which earns a mention.

6 2017 Acura NSX (Hybrid)

The Honda NSX, one of the most well-known Japanese cars ever made, was succeeded with this second model. Sold as the Acura NSX in North America, it boasts 573bhp from a 3.5L Twin-Turbocharged Hybrid V6, giving a somewhat modest top speed of 189mph.

RELATED: The Slowest Cars In Forza Horizon 4

What all these numbers result in is a powerful car with oodles of grip. You can take most corners with confidence but still swing the back out if you want to. As it's all-wheel-drive it will also shoot off the line. Still, it doesn't have that supercar wackiness of its predecessor — it just all comes off as a bit modest.

5 2013 McLaren P1 (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (8)

The legendary British manufacturer McLaren succeeded their 1993 F1 model with this, the P1, in 2013. Another gas-guzzling "hybrid," the P1 has a 3.8L Twin-Turbocharged Hybrid V8 and one electric motor, coming out in 903bhp and a top speed of over 250 mph, it's one of the fastest cars in the series.

The car feels incredibly similar to the Ferrari LaFerrari, but with a bit more unpredictability and aggression. After just five seconds it can get up to 100mph off the line, and while it can sit quite comfortably at high speeds, it also takes corners with ease. Sadly, it's a bit dull when compared to what follows.

4 2016 Koenigsegg Regera (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (9)

One of the most iconic modern supercar companies, Koenigsegg has a strong history of creating super-powerful (and super-unpredictable) hypercars. They outdid themselves with the Regera, however, making a car so wacky it's perfect for racking up high skill chains.

With 1757bhp trying to escape out the 5.0L Twin-Turbocharged Hybrid V8 all through the rear wheels, this car is very hard to tame. This means you have to be very cautious on the throttle, or you risk spinning out of a corner. This, combined with the way the thing looks, makes it a truly absurd car. But then that's what these games are all about, right?

3 2018 Volkswagen #94 Volkswagen Motorsport I.D R Pikes Peak (Electric)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (10)

Finally, we see the second all-electric car on the list. This lengthily-named race car is not something anyone is going to see in the wild, making it an exciting prospect in this virtual world. With its incredibly low body and 670bhp from its two electric motors, this car has speed and control in spades.

RELATED:

What this leads to is easily one of the best cars to take to a race in the game, helping the player shoot off the line in a flash and take any corner with ease. Despite this, it doesn't look as flashy as the others, nor as pretty. It's also only the second most powerful all-electric car in the game, even with all two motors.

2 2010 James Bond Edition Jaguar C-X75 (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (11)

As featured in the thrilling James Bond romp Spectre, the Jaguar C-X75 is an outlandish supercar with all-wheel-drive and two electric motors. With this and its 1.6L Twin-Charged Hybrid I4, it churns out 890bhp, making it one of the best S1 tier cars in the game.

Not only does this Jaguar look incredibly stylish, but it grips on the corners easily, meaning the player can actually get a good look at it as they glide through to the finish line (looking even better if you're playing on an Xbox Series X, too). Its all-wheel-drive system means it accelerates near-instantly and will take the lead in no time.

1 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (12)

Another hybrid, the Porsche 918 Spyder, is the most well-rounded of all the cars on this list. It's got a 4.6L Naturally-Aspirated Hybrid V8, modest in comparison to some of its ilk, putting out 887bhp through all four wheels. What this means is that the car shoots off the line, reaching 100mph in under five seconds.

You can take corners with confidence, even if not as tightly as in the other rear-wheel-drive competitors. It also has two thick exhaust pipes sticking out of the rear window, which is just excellent.

2014 Ferrari FXX K (Hybrid)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (13) Based on the Ferrari LaFerrari, the FXX K is a

1036bhp monster. All this power comes from the 6.3L Naturally-Aspirated Hybrid V12 and the cars HY-KERS unit. This is a KERS system like you'd see in Formula 1, where kinetic energy produced by the car under braking is stored and used for acceleration. All this power is being pushed out through the rear wheels alone, but it still handles excellently, allowing you to take corners much more precisely than any of the AWD electric or hybrids in the game. Not only is it a mechanical marvel, but with its two winglets and a spoiler wing that raises up at higher speeds, it looks seriously impressive.

2019 Rimac Concept Two (Electric)

Forza Horizon 4: Every Electric And Hybrid Car, Ranked (14) While most big supercar companies are pushing for all-electric flagships, we're still in the early days. A sad reality of this list is that the majority of the fun is still in the seat of a gas-guzzling car that has a few electric motors. Yet, from this young Croatian company, we get a look at what might be the best car in Forza Horizon 4 — and it's completely electric. With four liquid-cooled permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, the car produces a mind-blowing

1887bhp. This all-wheel-drive system means the car hits

60 mph in 1.8 seconds and hits a top speed of

258mph. After 11.8 seconds it will be at a whopping 186mph, and it will do this all while barely making a sound. It's a good-looking car of the future, aimed at keeping mechanical fantasies alive in a much more sustainable way. And, it's great fun.
